The golf courses are looking a little only these days, as the PGA Tour continues through its season it's difficult not to notice the absence of golf's brightest star. The upcoming World Golf Championships -Bridgestone Invitational is no exception, as Woods continues to be absent as a result of necessary knee surgery. It doesn't seem to matter that 47 of the world's top 50 golfers will be in Akron, Ohio to take on the Bridgestone event.
But the fact is, the show must go on, with or without the stellar play of Tiger Woods. And since Woods, Luke Donald who is also suffering from an injury, and Mike Weir of Canada, are the only top 50 players that won't be attending chances are the competition will be tight. A former WGC player, Davis Love III didn't even qualify this year, so the playing field may not be any easier even though Woods won't be adding his stroke tally to the count.
Actually, with all the talent that will be making an appearance for the World Golf Championships this year, there are only five players that have been able to appear in all ten of the Bridgestone Invitationals. Taking to the course again will be Stuart Appleby, Jim Furyk, Padraig Harrington, Phil Mickelson, and Lee Westwood. With so many unknowns appearing in this year's tournament, it would seem that who will walk away champion is anyone's guess. Fans will have to tune into CBS to watch the action unfold.
