Padraig Harrington was born on August 31, 1971 in Ballyroan, Dublin, Ireland. He is the youngest of five boys, and was born to Brenda Harrington and the late Patrick Harrington.
Padraig was born into a family of professional golfers, and later picked up the sport himself. In fact, after attaining a business degree, he began to play professionally. In 1995, Harrington won the Walker Cup with the Great Britain and Ireland team. Later that year Padraig became professional and joined the European Tour.
In 1996, he experienced his first victory in the 1996 Peugeot Spanish Open. According to Wikipedia, the most remarkable thing about his career was the number of times he finished in second place in European Tour events without ever bettering his position. Nonetheless, in the year 2000, he started on a winning streak, and continued to win each year up to 2004.
Harrington won the Order of Merit in 2006, and the European Tour Golfer of the Year award in 2007. However, he is best known for winning the The Open Championship two years in a row, once in 2007, and again in 2008.
Padraig Harrington also has other career achievements under his belt. He is an author of a biography, which according to his website, has just recently been released. The title of his book is "Padraig Harrington's Journey to the Open."
While Padraig has successfully completed his goals and dreams, it was certainly not an easy feat for him. He is a role model for anyone wanting to attain a dream!
