PGA and The Absence of Tiger Woods

The absence of Tiger Woods, the most powerful, famous golfer in the world today, will have an effect on the PGA Tour. Tiger Wood's statistics, winnings and earnings are record high. Since 1994, Tiger Woods has won 87 tournaments, 65 of which have been on the PGA Tours, 14 tournament major victories, also, Tiger Wood has won the prestigious Claret Jug three times. Tiger, the youngest golfer reached those three marks with hard work, determination and focus, probably will have more tournaments as long as he stays healthy.

As PGA Tour continues the life without the world's number one, not all golfers at the Players Championships are disappointed. Tiger was placed on a Pedestal as has Jordan, Ruth and Gretzky in their special sports. PGA's rating have fallen enormously. The number of fans has decline somewhat and fans are less inclined to attend game of golf when Tiger is not playing. One week after Wood's incredible victory, the PGA Champion ratings were down as much as 55 percent from the previous year even though Tiger Woods was part of the event in the final round. It will have a negative effect in television rating and tournaments also until Tiger Woods will return.

Wood is expected a comeback sometime next year much stronger or will Tiger Woods be restricted by the movement due to his injuries. Tiger Woods does not play every tournament, he plays about 17 to 18 out of the 49 event scheduled.

The respect the golfers have for Tiger is unthinkable. Woods has been single-hand
responsible for the golf industry's success over the last decade. There is no guarantee that Tiger will be back. Phil Mickelson, the second best golfer in the world, JB
Homes or Boo might overtake Tiger as the number one player in the world. PGA Tour and fans need Tiger back.
