Can the PGA be the Same Without Tiger Woods?

Tiger Woods is out; his season is over, ended by knee surgery.  The last great game that he played for this season was the U.S. Open.   The 2008 U.S. Open, held at Torrey Pines, will be a game to go down in history as one of Tiger Wood’s best.  It was definitely one of the most exciting tournaments ever played.  Woods had the winning put over Rocco Mediate during the sudden death playoff.  Throughout the entire game Tiger often winced and limped after hitting shots, and he sometimes used his driver as a makeshift cane. It is hard for anyone to imagine the pain he had to endure and still managed to out play all the other golfers. Tiger Woods is definitely a legend, and a favorite to watch.

Since his knee surgery the big question is, will the PGA survive without Tiger Woods?  Many say no, at least for the rest of this season.  The PGA is Tiger Woods, and many people will not be interested in watching golf without this great legend.  Unless Tiger can come back and be the Tiger of old, the PGA may never be the same, but isn't that okay?

The bright side to this tragedy is that it gives other PGA players a chance to be in the lime light for a change.  Who’s to say that Tiger Woods is the only reason people love to watch golf?  Times change, and the next great golfing legend is out there just waiting patiently for his turn to be the one that everyone is trying to beat.  Maybe that time has come!
