Talk about going global, Ji-Yai Shin is taking her expertise in golfing all over the world. She is wowing the LPGA by being their best finisher at 6th on the 2007 U.S. Women's Open. The 5'2" Korean teenager was still in high school when she played the KLPGA and claimed the SK Enclean Invitational. Although her life had been difficult, when the young girl found out her mother was killed in a car accident, also leaving her younger brother and sister in critical condition, Ji-Yai Shin practically moved into the hospital to help take care of them and stayed with them until they were released one year later, she is still a great golfer. She dedicates her success to her mother to this very day.
Ji-Yai Shin won the Hong Kong Open in 2005 and won third place in the KLPGA during her first two events. She won the PAVY International for the second time and went on to collect twelve top five finishes for the season. When she played the Women's British Open, (she had 21 previous wins); she won by three strokes after a final round 6-under 66. Playing the Open in the rain the skies began to clear on the 10th hole. At the last hole, having a three shot lead, Ji-Yai Shin seemed to be relaxed and confident when she pitched out to 4 feet that make her bogey-free, and the winner. All we can really say to Ji-Yai Shin is "You Go Girl!"
