When they tally up the strokes and leave the final green of the FedEx Cup, who will take home the prize? In a year when Tiger Woods cannot win due to ACL surgery on his left knee, the Cup is up for grabs. There are many outstanding players who can take the blue ribbon in what could be the tightest race in sports this year.
In mid August, the FedEx cup points will be reset and the top 144 PGA Golfers on the points list then will start a four-tournament quest to attain golf's highest prize. The outcome has been opened up for much more speculation due to Tiger's season-ending injury. After winning the US Open, Tiger Woods announced that he was having ACL surgery on his left knee and would miss the rest of the year. This has made the race for the Cup an open field. There are some strong prospects showing up to compete.
The two hottest players right now are Kenny Perry, with 20,824 points, three wins and 7 top ten finishes, and Anthony Kim with 14,966 points, two wins and six top ten finishes. Never to be left out are Phil Mickelson with 16,199 points, two wins and six top ten's, and Padraig Harrington, winner of the British Open, with 10,331 points, one win and five top ten's. There are several more golfers who have a shot, but at this point these are your leaders to take over Tiger's crown. For golf enthusiasts, there should be an exciting conclusion to the FedEx Cup.
