Paula Creamer chose between cheering for someone else and being cheered for in 1998 at the age of twelve. That year, she made a commitment to golf. She stormed onto the junior golf circuit and won eleven American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) titles. Her fierce competitive spirit drove her to be one of the youngest to win an LPGA tournament at the age of seventeen. She tied for 13th in the Women’s U.S. Open as an amateur. Golf Week and Golf Digest named her the women's amateur of the year in 2004. Traditionally, young people go to college, but Paula Creamer chose to live her dream and become a professional golfer. She pushed herself and was able to qualify for the U.S. Solheim Cup team in 2005 and 2007.
Golfers have a special spirit and confidence, which sometimes takes attitude. Some also choose to create a look to go along with it. Tiger wears red on Sunday. Payne Stuart wore knickers. Paula Creamer wears pink. Therefore, she is nicknamed the Pink Panther. Last year she switched golf balls to the Ladies' Pink Precept IQ 180. Her latest victory came at the Jamie Farr Owens Coming Classic in July of 2008. Many golfers are superstitious to a fault and have routines that they follow. Paula usually saved her pink Precept for Sunday, but she decided to open with it on Thursday. She shot an opening round of 60! The back side was an amazing 27, tying the LPGA’s nine hole record. Traditions die hard, but switching to the Pink Precept for her opening round sure has the crowds cheering for her!
