No Tiger

There is a long list of players that were supposed to be the next Tiger Woods and some day there will be a new Tiger, but for now there is none.

There was one player that tried to get at Tiger by saying that he wanted him in the final round of the Wachovia Championship in 2007. He got his wish but lost by four strokes. Rory Sabbatini was the unfortunate challenger and learned a very important lesson about getting under Tiger’s skin.

Ernie Els has a plan of closing the gap on Woods even after a sailing accident. He tore the ligaments in his left knee but has still gained some distance towards his goal of dethroning Woods in 2007. There are two other players that are threats every time they step on the course Jim Furyk and K.J. Choi, they have repetitive swings that work under pressure. Vijay Singh is also one of the top golfers on the tour that could just be the next number one after Woods; he was the last one to hold the No.1 ranking besides Woods.

The player that will most likely be the next Tiger Woods is Phil Michelson. Michelson received some very valuable swing lessons from Burch Harmon and won The Players Championship and that started a battle between him and Woods.

Unfortunately Phil hurt his left wrist, and being a lefty, it was a slight drawback. He came back and defeated Woods in the second FedEx Cup event but didn’t win the overall title. Michelson is the favorite to unseat Tiger Woods.
