Have you heard about Lorena Ochoa? If you are an avid fan of ladies’ golf, you have. Lorena Ochoa just happens to be the number 1 lady golfer in the world. Starting at the age of five, Lorena learned the game of golf so quickly that she started winning rounds at the age of six. Even though she is still only 27 years old, all of that is ancient history.

Some of Lorena’s accomplishments include being the youngest golfer to hit the million dollar ranks in a single year. Within her first two years of professional golf, Lorena had already won two LPGA Tour titles. She became the first Mexican born player to win the LPGA Tour. In her third year of play, she tied the record for the lowest score ever played in a major tournament, by male or female golfer.

Lorena continues to top the charts with her low scoring averages, top money rankings, and overall professionalism in the golfing world. In 2007, she became the first woman ever to earn $4 million in a single season. In the fall of this year, Lorena will be hosting her own LPGA event on her home course at the Guadalajara Country Club in Mexico.

Miss Ochoa is currently considered the best Mexican golfer of all time, and is the only Mexican golfer, male or female, to ever earn the ranking of number 1 in the world. She is highly revered in her home country, which is most important in her heart. It seems because of her ethnic background, Lorena gets very little attention from the press, or any types of “big name” endorsements like you see with other major golf figures. Lorena keeps to herself, sticks to her game, and plans to retire from golf in her early 30’s.
