As new stars continue to rise in the LPGA, Paula Creamer has proven that she is rising to the top. In 2005, the then 20 year-old scored a victory in the SBS Open in Oahu, which she later described as up and down like a roller coaster. Fellow golfers Julieta Granada, Karrie Webb, Janice Moodie, Lorena Ochoa and Morgan Pressel finished second through sixth respectively; It was Creamer's third career title.
Born in Mountain View, California, August 5, 1986, Creamer was named LPGA Rookie of the Year in 2005, and is 25th on their all-time top money list. She finished second on the LPGA money list in 2005 and third in 2007. As of August 2008, she is ranked in the top five in the Women’s World Golf rankings, and has been as high as number two. Creamer was dubbed "Pink Panther," the nickname she received for her obvious love of wearing all things pink. She earned nineteen amateur national titles and moved from California to Florida to go to the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. Just as Hollywood's Pink Panther always ended up a winner, Creamer's success did not surprise her. It was her plan to turn pro, and turning pro has pretty much kept her in the pink.
Creamer had a great LPGA rookie season 2005, and was playing the Sybase Classic four days before graduating high school. Creamer was 18 years, 9 months old at the time, making her the third-youngest winner in the history of the LPGA. Although she did not win a tournament in 2006, she was working through a wrist injury for much of the year. Achievement of her fifth victory at the 2008 Fields Open shows that in young Golfywood, Creamer is the cream of the crop.
