Tiger Woods' recent knee injury is a result his powerful swing. All of the force that is generated in the swing puts a lot of pressure on his knees. The knee injury will stop him from competing for the 90th PGA at Oakland Hills. This will be the first PGA Tour that Tiger Woods will miss in his professional career. He will be having his third knee surgery; all of his knee injures have taken place in the last 5 years.
The knee injury that Tiger Woods had recently is a double stress fracture of his left tibia. This happened just a few weeks before the U.S open at Torry Pines. Doctors recommended that he not play because he could make his condition worse. Tiger Woods ignored what the doctors said and played in the U.S Open. Although he won, he realized afterward that he would need surgery more than he thought. On April 15th, Tiger Woods had arthroscopic surgery to clean out cartilage in his left knee. He was hoping that after the surgery he would be able to continue his season, but after the surgery was done he would not be able to have the swing power he had before. Doctors are saying that the surgery will not affect his overall playing ability after he completes his healing process. It is a possibility that the continues stress on his knee and the surgery could have a affect on his career 5 to 10 years from now.
Despite the problems with his knee, it is undebatable that Tiger is the best active golfer on the PGA Tour today. Soon enough, we will see him come back and play as well as ever. His fans are anxiously awaiting that day.
