Paula Creamer, known for her love of the color pink, joined the Ladies Professional Golf Association in 2005. Paula was only 12 when she won 13 consecutive regional junior golf events in California. When she was 13, she was top ranked in the state among junior golfers.
In both 2003 and 2004, Paula was a semi-finalist in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. She also tied for 13th place in the U.S. Women’s Open. She qualified for the professional tour in 2005 and quickly announced that she was turning professional.
On the Women’s Tour, Paula became immediately known. On May 22nd of her first year as a pro, she won the Sybase Classic by one stroke and became the youngest winner of a multi-round tournament in the Association’s history. She won again on July 23rd of that year in the Evian Masters tournament in France and became the youngest player in to earn $1,000,000 in the history of the LPGA.
Incredibly, she then won the NEC Open on the Japan LPGA tour and captured the Masters GC Ladies tournament, as well. The United States Solheim Cup Team won the cup with Paula competing as the youngest ever to do so. Overall, for the year, she placed second in earnings and had eight top ten finishes. With this kind of a debut in professional golf, one has to wonder just how far Paula can go. Could there be another Tiger Woods in the making?
