Born on the Island of Hawaii, Michelle Wie as a 13 year old shocked the world with her hole-in-one. That shot her onto the scene of stardom and from that point on, she has remained the most famous golfer in the world despite not winning a single major golfing title. Her movie star good looks and her nickname "six feet of sunshine" are only some of the attributes that maker her today's most famous female golfer.
She is consistently challenging the LPGA by attempting more than eighteen times to make the cut on a PGA tour event. If she is successful, she would become the first female to ever make the cut on a PGA tour event. Despite criticism of her failed potential, Wie has continuously blamed her injury to her wrist for her lackluster performances. However, her injury was over a year ago and experts have claimed that her wrist should be fully heeled. This is simply not the case.
She has even been criticized by her own golfing peers for her negative performances; most notably, Annika Sorenstam. Sorenstam has repeatedly pulled her aside telling her that she needs to produce results on the LPGA tour before she attempts to stir up the PGA tour and its traditions. Wie has been outspoken against Augusta National, saying that the Masters, a storied golfing tradition, should allow women to compete. The head of the PGA tour blasted back by saying she should try winning her own sport before she attempts to make changes to one hundred year American tradition. Wie, in summation, has talked the game but not walked the walk in her brief golfing career.
