Amie Cochran left after her sophomore year of school to be a professional golfer. In the summer of 2004, she earned medalist honors at the U.S. Women's Amateur with rounds of 70-71-141 (-3). In the summer of 2005 she tied 13th at the U.S. Publinks with scores of 75-70-155 (+3) at Swope Memorial GC in Kansas City, MD.
At UCLA in 2004-05, she earned 2nd Team NCGA All-American honors and first team All-Pac-10 acclaim. She won her first collegiate tournament, the Kent Youth Invitationals with a 54-hole score of 212(-4). She ended the season ranked 13th nationally by GolfWeek and 19th by GolfStat. She chose UCLA for its academics and athletics.
In high school she was a three-time Bay League individual medalist at her high school. She also won the 2003 CIF WSCGA Championship with a final round of 68. In 2003 she earned first team Polo Jr. Golf All-Amercian Honors. She placed second at the 2003 PNG Phoneix with scores of 77-71-69-217. She also tied for second at the I.R.I. Arizona National Jr. with scores of 75-78-62-215.
She enjoys the excitement of competitive golf. She enjoys reading, listening to music, and shopping in her spare time. She admires golfer Annika Sorenstam. Her favorite class in school is his history. Her greatest thrill was posting a competitive record score of 62 at The Raven, the University of Arizona's home course.
