Mikaela Parmlid began playing golf when she was thirteen, and by the summer she turned fourteen, she represented her country, Sweden, in a national event in Finland. She was on the Swedish national team from that time on and played in many tournaments in European countries and world championship events. She was a foreign exchange student when she was seventeen. She was in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she met golf instructor Paul Purtzer. She credits him with teaching her a great deal, as well as helping her improve her game, where she reached a higher level of expertise.
Mikaela attended the University of Southern California. She earned a degree in Economics in 2003. While in college, she played on the university golf team. She finished her college golf career as NCAA individual and team champion, and her final college season was the best individual season on record.
She turned pro in 2004. She has seen a steady climb in the four years since, and has been predicted to be the most likely woman to succeed Annika Sörenstam as top woman golfer. Her personal goal is to become the top woman golfer. She knows very well the dedication, determination, and work that will be involved, and she is already proving that she is willing and able to try her hardest. Mikaela has increased her money standings each year from her rookie year in 2004 through 2007.
Besides her golf game, Mikaela is one of the Wilhelmina 7. This is a group of seven female golfers who are signed with the Wilhelmina Models agency to promote the sport of women’s golf through the Artist Management program.
