Lorena Ochoa

Lorena Ochoa was born on November 15, 1981. She grew up in Jalisco, Mexico but went to College at the University of Arizona for two years. She left school to be a professional golfer. She became a pro golfer in 2002. She has twenty seven professional wins, with two of those being from Kraft Nabisco, the biggest women’s golf tournament of the year. She has won 2008 LPGA Championship, the 2008 U.S. Women’s Openand the 2007 Women’s British Open.

Lorena is the number one women’s golfer in the world currently. She is the first Mexican golfer, out of both men and women, to be ranked number one. She started golfing when she was just five years old. She lived right next door to a County Club in Mexico. Her first win was when she was only six years old at a state event. She then went on at the age of seven to win a national event. When she was a junior in High School she won twenty two state events and forty four national events in Mexico.

When Lorena was eleven years old she claimed that she wanted to be the best golfer in the world! That is exactly what she is today. She is a very successful golfer, earning $2, 716,184 just in 2008 alone. So far in her career she has earned over thirteen million dollars. She is also one of the most respected professional sports players in the world. Lorena also plays many other sports and loves to run. She has a passion for pushing herself to do well.
