Who's Top in the PGA?

The top 20 PGA players are evenly split. There are 10 from the United States and 10 from other countries. Golfers who intend to play any kind of professional golf hold the PGA in high esteem and every major network desires to cover the tour. This year Tiger Woods, number one on the list of top PGA golfers, studied the PGA schedule long and hard for his tournament strategy for the season.

Most people think of Tiger Woods as the top PGA player not just because he gets so much press but because he has proven himself to be the best. This year, Tiger had to play hurt along with playing smart. Tiger won the Accenture Match Play in February and the Arnold Palmer in March before the surgery on his left knee. The US Open was his, even though he suffered from a torn ACL and 2 stress fractures in his shin. It was then, after the 3 or the 4 major PGA tournaments were conquered, that he did shut down for reconstructive surgery. Many believe that at this point in the season was when number 2 and 3 of the top 20 took advantage of the opportunity and surged forward.

Number 2 is Padraig Harrington of Ireland. His victories at the Open Championship at Royal Burkdale and the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills put him closer to Tiger Woods than anyone in the game. He had hopes for the Volvo Masters in October but it was pretty hard to beat Soren Kjeldsen with 8 under par. Number 3 is Vijay Singh of Fiji who took home wins at Bridgestone, Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship. Although Tiger is out of play for this season, the sure money is on him staying the Number 1 PGA player for 2008.
