Ginn Sur Merr Golf Classic Winner Ryan Palmer

Players and spectators were anxious recently at the Ginn Sur Merr Classic golf tournament. After at least two delays in the game, due to bad weather, the tournament finally finished. Recently, on November 2, 2008 the Ginn Sur Merr PGA Golf Classic was won by Ryan Palmer. Palmer was considered as the No. 143 on the winning money list.

Ryan was stuck in a six way tie for the lead. The players were on the Palm Coast Florida course when he sank a 10 foot birdie Sunday on the 18th hole. That shot resulted in his winning the tournament and he acted ecstatic upon the win. The course is located at the Ginn Ocean Hammock Resort on the coast of Florida. This was his second career win.

Palmer is only 32 years old and is from Texas. It has taken him a long time to work his way up to the position he now holds. Amazingly, he had to call a penalty on himself when he saw his ball move; he had a two shot lead when this happened. It was an exciting game as he made a bogey on the 11th hole and then took his next shot that ended up in the water resulting in a double bogey. Something so simple moved him backwards but it didn’t take him long to move back up to the leading six pack. With so many tied for the lead it lead to a breath holding finish when he made his final shot that resulted in his win.

In the last six events, it was only the fifth time, in this Fall Series, that a player who was outside the top 125 was to win such a tournament. In winning this one tournament Palmer won an estimated $828,000.
