Lorena Ochoa's country of Mexico is proud of her accomplishments. She is the world's number one female golfer. She, like Tiger Woods, was pretty much born into the world of golfing. She grew up living next door to one of Mexico's fine golf courses. It was only natural that at the age of five, she picked up her first set of clubs. She has not put them down since!
The year 2008 is proving to be a very profitable year for her. She began the season with the HSBC Women's Champions. She finished in first place and walked away with $300,000. She finished the season in September at the Navistar LPGA in first place and walked away with $210,000. Her total wins for 2008 was over $2.7 million.
In spite of her expertise on the golf course, when she is not playing golf, she is at home with her family. Brought up from humble beginnings and extremely polite when interviewed, Ms Ochoa respects and enjoys the company of her family. She once said that her favorite thing to do is to be with her friends and eat chocolate cake.
Ms Ochoa is also a humanitarian, has a foundation in her name and started an elementary school she founded in her home town. The school's objective is to teach children using alternative resources such as music. This method is thought to maintain their interest in school. Plans for the school are to add a high school grade each year until all the high school years are accounted for. After which, a high school will be built. The answer to the question of where is Lorena Ochoa now is that she is out in the community, helping others and enjoying her life.
